What is e-RUPI?
The National Payment Corporation of India has developed it. The Indian Government launched it to simplify digital payments and make digital payments cashless. e-RUPI, a prepaid voucher-based payment option, is available. This e-rupee allows payment to be made in cashless or contactless mode.

|Worked Under||Central Government of India|
|Department||National Payment Corporation of India|
|Launch Date||02 August 2021|

To make a payment via this method, you don’t even need an internet banking debit-credit or UPI card. You can transfer it to your mobile phone using a QR code or SMS.
You can use this facility even if you don’t have a bank account or UPI such as phone pe, Google Pay, WhatsApp UPI, BHIM, etc. This means that any money from any government scheme can be paid directly to the beneficiary, i.e. the common man. This e-voucher can be used by the Government of India for education, health, and other purposes.
How e-RUPI works?
Transactors can connect to one another digitally using e-RUPI. It also confirms that payment was made to the service provider following the transaction’s completion.
It functions as an e-voucher that is based on a QR code or SMS. This is completely different from the digital payments available and not the same as UPIs. This is the best part about it. You don’t need an internet connection or a bank account to use them.
This e-rupee coupon can only be sent via SMS or QR code to the mobile number. This e-voucher can be used to pay for work. Only for that purpose can the voucher be used.
For example, suppose you get an e-voucher to purchase medicine from your phone. Then, this voucher can only be used to purchase medicine. This voucher can also be used to purchase medicine from a medical facility. The issuer of the e-voucher will be notified that you used the voucher.
